The Queen's Baton Relay Race is one the great traditions of the Commonwealth Games, having been the curtain raiser to every game since Cardiff, Wales, in 1958. The Baton’s journey symbolises the unity and shared ideals of the Commonwealth of Nations. The relay race started at Buckingham Palace, London, on October 29, 2009, and the baton will travel through all 70 Commonwealth nations, covering more than 170,000 kilometres in 240 days!
Antigua will take place in this historic journey on Saturday, 13th March, 2010
, when the Baton will leave Jolly Beach Resort at 6:30 a.m.The route on Saturday will continue along the Valley Road; then into the city; continuing into Cedar Grove; and finally ending at the American University of Antigua. Then on Sunday 14th March, the Baton will once again leave Jolly Beach at 6:30 a.m.; travel south into All Saints and English Harbour; through the eastern side of the island; to the V.C.
